VHSL 2020 assistant coach of the year, Andrew Hansen leads the Screaming Eagle Wrestling coaching staff. Originally from Illinois, Hansen formerly wrestled in high school with a record of over 80 high school and led his team in pin falls. As a senior, Hansen’s team placed 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-State. He was also a Prairie State Games gold medalist.  

In 2020, he was named Virginia High School League (VHSL) Scholastic State Boys Assistant Coach of the Year while coaching for Woodbridge Senior High School. As the Viking Wrestling Club head coach Hansen produced half the Virginia’s state champions

Andrew Hansen began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in 2007.  In 2019 He earned his black belt from the Yamasaki academy when his instructor Francisco Neto gave him his own belt, off of his own waist–the highest honor a student can receive from their professor.  Hansen also has extensive experience in judo.

  • Copa Nova – Silver Medalist (BJJ)
  • 2x IBJJF Washington DC Open – Brown Belt Champion (BJJ)
  • IBJJF European Open – Brown Belt Silver Medalist (BJJ)
  • Good Fight Submission Only – Black Belt Champion (BJJ)
  • 3rd Place 2022 IBJJF Pans Kissimmee, Florida
